Frequently asked questions
Spark is designed to be the perfect desktop collaborative companion. Automate the most strenuous, tedious, and delicate tasks in your workflow with industry-leading repeatability.
Any shop running repeat or batch work on CNC equipment: job shops, aerospace, medical device, automotive, energy and defense suppliers. Standard Bots robots tend mills, lathes, press brakes, plastic injection molding machines and much more, loading raw stock and unloading finished parts.
Core fits most machining cells, with an 18 kg payload and 1.3 m reach. Step up to Thor (30 kg, 2 m) for heavy blanks or larger machines, or down to Spark (7 kg, 950 mm) for benchtop machines.
Remember that payload includes the gripper as well as the part. Our applications engineers can size the robot to your parts and cell layout.
Three things: a way to open the door automatically, workholding that clamps and unclamps on command, and a signal connection between the machine and the robot.
Haas, for example, lists an automatic door or another door-opening device as a requirement for robot integration. Pneumatic or hydraulic vises and chucks let the robot load parts without an operator turning a handle. Standard Bots connects directly to Haas controls over Ethernet and uses Ethernet/IP, Modbus or discrete I/O for other CNC brands.
Often, yes, if the machines sit within the robot's reach and the machining cycle leaves enough time to service both. Whether it makes sense depends on your layout and cycle times, so our applications engineers will review it with you before you buy.
It depends on the part's shape, weight and material. Many tending cells use a dual gripper, so the robot can pull the finished part and load a fresh blank in one trip to the machine. Standard Bots offers compatible grippers and can recommend fingers or jaws for your parts.
